Kunzite is a pink to lilac variety of the mineral spodumene, prized as a gemstone. Its color comes from traces of manganese, and it often shows strong pleochroism, appearing lighter or darker depending on the viewing angle
Kunzite is valued for its brilliance and is used mainly in jewelry, though it must be handled with care as it can fade in sunlight. It is relatively hard (6.5–7 on the Mohs scale) but can be brittle due to perfect cleavage. Major sources include Afghanistan, Brazil, Madagascar, and the United States.
Uses
Jewelry – Kunzite is cut into faceted gems or cabochons for rings, pendants, and earrings. Collectors’ Gemstone – Its rarity and delicate pink-to-lilac color make it highly valued by gem collectors
